Inspire Therapy

What is Inspire Therapy?

Here at Ear, Nose & Throat Associates of Texas, we are proud to offer our patients Inspire Therapy, a revolutionary new approach to treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea without the use of cumbersome masks and tubes.

Approved by the FDA in 2014, Inspire Therapy is the only therapy that safely and effectively treats Obstructive Sleep Apnea from within the body, eliminating the need for large compressors, tubes, and masks that interfere with sleep and comfort.

Inspire Therapy uses a small device that stimulates the airways to stay open when you sleep. Simply press the button on your remote and once again you can enjoy uninterrupted peaceful, restorative sleep.

The specialists at ENT Tex have chosen to offer Inspire Therapy to their patients for several reasons. Studies* consistently show that:

*Otolaryngology Head Neck Surg. 2018 Jul;159(1):194-202; European Respiratory Journal 2019 53: 1801405; DOI: 10.1183/13993003.01405-2018

How does it work?

Inspire Therapy uses a small remote device to gently stimulate the muscles that keep the airways open while you sleep. The sensation is barely noticeable, mimicking the natural processes that help us breath while sleeping.

Before closing your eyes to sleep, simply click the button on a separate remote to activate the Inspire device. Relax and rest assured your body will have significantly fewer apneic events thus getting the restorative sleep it needs for overall health and wellbeing.

What is the procedure for placing the Inspire Device like?

The procedure for placing the Inspire Therapy Device is a quick outpatient procedure that usually takes 1-2 hours. Anesthesia and sedation will be used to make the procedure go as smoothly and comfortably as possible.

Our specialists will then make 2 small incisions just below the chin in the neck and upper chest region. The device is then placed and secured under the skin in an area where it is barely noticeable to the patient or others.

After the procedure, the Inspire device is ready for use! Now you (and your bed partner) can get the restful sleep you’ve been dreaming of!
